Default Oil Question

2004 Sequoia.

Since the first oil change at about 1800 miles, the truck has always had Mobile 1 synthetic. Yesterday my wife had the oil changed at 45K and they did not use synthetic.

Should I have the oil drained and refilled with synthetic, or will it be ok to go a few months before changing it?

You can switch back and forth every change. It will not do anything to your engine. I would run it for 5k then dump it, no need to waist oil.
you can go to www.bobistheoilguy.com you will find more info on oil there then you care for.

Its not going to hurt your engine. Look at it this way, if it were so harmful to mix a synthetic oil and a mineral oil, where do you think synthetic blend oils come from?
In the past synthetics and mineral oils didnt react together well and could cause sludge inside an engine, but nowdays synthetics and mineral oils mix together just fine.
I wouldnt worry about it...

I wouldnt worry about it...

If you read the oil bottles, most will state that synth ab]nd conventionals mix just fine... after all, what do you think a synth blend is?

Also, if you're using synth, and your driving habits are not under severe conditions, I hope you're not changing your oil sooner than 7,500 miles. Apart from wasting money with unnecessary oil changes, you're putting unnecessary waste oil into the environment.

Think green... both your wallet and the planet.

I use Synth in the Seq and my G35; the Seq easily goes 10K before it's ready for a change, Mobil and Pennzoil. The G is hard on oil, Mobil and Pennzoil are good for about 6K.

Haven't been to BITOG in the last year or so, but tons of info. My oil analyses are probably still there... 3 years worth on both the Seq and the G.
