How to replace ignition key box?

Out of curiosity...is it possible to purchase an ignition key box and replace it myself? I am assuming the price would not be practical (especially considering new keys/fobs...even from ebay).

Why? My current key BROKE in the ignition and the LockSmith can't make it for 2 days and will be at least $125.00 and I am not able to extract it myself (even following the hints online).

very easy to do, as long as you can turn you ignition lock into run position

Um, yes I saw that little tidbit in the service manual. Of course I can't turn it to run position...but probably will still try to detach the switch tonight. Not sure what to do other than pay the Locksmith.
