Default Dashboard brake indicator comes on occasionally

While test driving our new-to-us 2005 Sequoia Limited 4x4 I noticed that the red brake indicator on the dash came on at one point. I stopped, engaged then disengaged the parking brake but the light stayed on. Before we collected the vehicle yesterday the braking system was inspected by Toyota but no fault was found and the light didn't go on during their test drive. I was told it would be easier to diagnose if I was able to return when the light was on.

We've since seen this behaviour again. Any ideas what might be causing it?

Cheers,

John.

We have a '05 SR5 4x4 and I recently had the brakes upgraded with new rotors and pads from ATE that I purchased from Tire Rack.

Last weekend my wife said the brake light was on while driving but when she stopped and started the car again, the light went out and has not happened since.

I checked the fluid reservoir and it is full and the brakes feel and work fine to me.

Wish I had a better answer but at least you're not the only one.

Check the brake fluid level.
