Lightbulb Need beta tester for Sequoia Ram Air Performance System

As some of you may have read under these threads:

Tundra Ram Air Performance System NOW AVAILABLE!

Tundra Ram Air Performance System

I have a Ram Air Performance Performance System for the stock air box that works on the Tundra and I believe will work on the Sequoia "as is" or with a minor modification to the scoop.

e.g. The lower front bumper opening on the Sequoia has a plastic grille cover (like the 03 Tundra's)while the same location is open on the 2000-2002 Tundra's. As such, I'm not certain if the scoop will need to be altered or if it will adhere to the existing ledge as it does for the Tundra? This is what I need help with...

If you are interested in being a "beta tester", please send me a PM and we can discuss the particulars.

Thanks!

Jim.

tremo,

Does the RAPS work in conjunction the stock box only? Does it matter that I have the JBA headers and exhaust system installed already for your testing purposes?

Hey Franz,

Just curious if you received my PM and follow-up e-mail? If not, please check.

To answer your questions:

1) Does the RAPS work in conjunction the stock box only?

Yes, it works in conjuction with the stock air box only. If you mean does it work with other aftermarket air intake systems, then the answer is also Yes. e.g. I also have a version of the system for the K&N FIPK (which was the first version I developed since I have the FIPK installed on my 02 Tundra.)

2) Does it matter that I have the JBA headers and exhaust system installed already for your testing purposes?

No, not really. From my PM/e-mail, this is what I'm most interested in wrt the Beta:

1) If the system works "as is", or if not what you propose needs to be changed. As I mentioned in my post the only thing I believe that may need to be changed is the scoop:

2) What your current MPG is and what the improvement is with the RAP system using the same driving pattern, fuel grade, etc.

3) Feedback regarding the Installation Instructions, what you had to do differently (if anything), etc.

4) Seat-of-the pants performance gain you experienced after 1-2 weeks of testing.

Update: The Installation Instructions for the Stock Air Box are now completed:

http://ramairperformance.home.attbi....ndra_stock.pdf

Hope this helps..

Seee-ya!

Jim.

Default FYI: Tundra Ram Air Performance data...

FYI re some recent 1/4 mile testing I did:

Tundra Ram Air Performance System

I would image the results would be similar on the Sequoia. If you're interested in testing this system and providing the details below, please send me a PM. For those that already have, please reply!

Thanks!

Jim.

Default FAQ...

FYI - based on common questions I've collected from various folks, I've created an FAQ that I plan to keep updated...

Also, I believe I've worked out the kinks re the scoop that I mentioned below. It should work fine "as is", I'm just waiting on final confirmation. Barring any surprises, the RAP System will soon be available for the Sequoia as well.

Seee-ya!

Jim.

Default Tremo, you lied!

The 2" hole saw at Home Depot was less than $6, not $9.....LOL
I bought the cheapie one.

Anyway, installed it over the weekend. It took about a half hour. This also included cleaning the throttle body as well. This thing fits like a glove in the corner of my 2002 Sequoia. It seemed like you measured exactly how much room I had! Anyway, it works fine. It will take me a little while to post results.

Right-on, thanks for the follow-up and glad to see my measurements are right on the money for the Sequoia!

Q: What was your average MPG prior to install?

Please keep us posted on your MPG, if you notice any improved low-end throttle response and/or any other seat-of-the-pants performance gains...

Thanks and glad the install went off without a hitch!

Seee-ya!

Jim.

Default mpg

Mpg was just under 16 on average, combination of city/highway. Pulling boat averaged between 11 to 13 mpg.
