I have 21k on my 06 SR5 and the dealer is telling me I need new pads? is this normal? I do not tow or drive off road and my wife really just picks up the kids and goes shopping in it. It just seems that is a short time and miles for the pads to be worn already.

Mostly brake pads last 25K - 35K miles. Just double check what the stealer told you, check it for yourself or a buddy. You might have 5K - 10K miles left on your brake pads. Also, check your brake fluid level and it does give you an idea on your brake pads thickness.

I got got 42000 mi on mine changed to hawk hard serface pads. I purchased them at the tire rack on line. These are the best brakes I ever owned. On my 93 toyota pu they lasted 100000. Ron

Unbelievably, I'm still on my original front pads at 60,000 miles! Most of the first 45,000 were on 1,000 mile runs between Oregon and CA...not much break usage.
