Default What to look for?

Newby here to the "Big Tree" I currently have an Avalon and 4Runner, and in the past had a Land Cruiser.

My wife is wanting a Sequoia and we are looking at 01 and 02s. Is there anything in particular to make sure to check or to be aware of outside the normal checks. I know LCs had their quirks as did Avalons and 4Runners.

Thanks,

Scott

Im sure there will be alot more; but for starters make sure; at least know about the larger BALL JOINT UPGRADE and the LARGER BRAKE CALIPERS. Both are Toyota recalls and will be fixed by the dealer.

Try to get an '03 or later. I believe they had the better OD gears. My 2002's tranny blew up after 113,000 miles. Thanks, Toyota and Jerry's Toyota!

I went and drove one yesterday, is it normal for the oil pressure gauge to sit at 1/4 while idling, and go as high as 3/4 when accelerating?

I have a 2003 limited 2wd, and don't know if its normal but mine does move from 1/4 up to 3/4 upon accelerating. I read alot of people who say the same thing. Also the fuel gauge will read low and show low the low fuel light, even though you have plenty. I noticed, using the trip computer when i fuel up with 12 miles left (according to the comp) i can put it about 20-21 gl. Of course this is with mostly city driving averaging 12-14 mpg. The fuel tank is 26 gls. This might be more info than you might wanna know but hope it helps

I'll take all the info I can find. I know different models have different tendencies. In Land Cruisers the temp and Oil gauges move very little.

We found and bought one yesterday, its an 04 Limited with about every option other than dvd player. One owner 75k miles and got it for $200 over wholesale. It was heading for the auction that evening. The only problem was the tires were trashed, so I headed straight for the tire store and ended up with a set of Firestone Destination LEs. I originally was thinking Revos but the reviews on here were less than good.

This site has already been more then great.
