Default Remote Start on a 2002 Sequoia

Hey guys! I have a 2002 and I'm thinking of getting remote start. I stopped by an installer here today who sells CompuStar and Viper. He was leaning towards the CompuStar, but said it was my decision.

The main item that has me a little concerned is that he said the feature where you press unlock once to unlock the drivers door, then twice to unlock all doors goes away with the remote start? You only get to unlock all doors? Is this true?

Also, on the 2002, does anyone know if I'll need to buy the other module to bypass the key chip?

Thanks!!!

Mike

Looking into the same setup for my 03'. Hopefully someone can chime in on the unlock feature.

Recently had a local shop install a Audiovox Prestige APS-920a in my 2002 Sequoia, and the remote start refused to work when the temps were colder 40 degrees outside (truck stands outside). Nevertheless, I found threads related to the actual key in the bypass unit possibly being the issue. This is still an issue and the truck goes back into the shop next week for a new bypass unit.

Anyways, to answer the question, the unlocking of the doors work just fine with the Audiovox unit. Two clicks to have all the doors open. No issues with that for me. If only the remote start will work, then I would say this is a very nice unit to buy.

I had a viper remote start and alarm and then replace with scytek remote start and alarm. With viper, I only have to press once to unlock all doors but it could be program to unlock only the drivers door. With scytek, press once to unlock only the drivers door but can be program to unlock all door with one click. It depends on your remote start unit if it has the option single and double pulse. Also, the knowledge of your installer.

I had the remote start installed in my sig. It's a Viper and it allows the option of having the one touch drivers door only, second touch all doors programmed. That's the way ours is set up. The only thing I lost was the rear window up/down with the Viper key fob. They said I could have added it on as an 'option' but I didn't want to spend the extra money. Be careful with the LCD type fobs. They're expensive to replace. My wife has almost ruined hers and they want ~$100 for a replacement.
