Stupid 4X4 System ~ Are you messing with me?

I have had problems with the 4X4 system engaging (center light blinking).

1st Appointment: Tech said they would simply put it on the lift and cycle the system 15 times to get the system "lubed" up. The symptoms are from the system not being engaged regularly.

We cycled the system, it seemed to engage fine thereafter.

The next trip over the Mountain it took 21 miles before I gave up and pulled into a lot, as usual a sharp turn at slow speed engaged the system finally. On the way home it went in at ~ 8 miles on its own. When its blinking, I try playing with the throttle position, speeds, anything I can thing of to get it to lock in to no avail.

2nd Appointment: Drop off the car at night get the call mid-morning, "can you come down here and demonstrate your problem, the tech says it is behaving normally". Sure enough, it engages immediately, no problems, any speed, anytime. Its friggen perfect (they did nothing). Rightfully so, they can't fix anything that doesn't appear to be broken.


WTF????? Could my problem be temperature related? Everytime I have had problems it has been cold ~ 32 degrees or less. Next time over the mountain I am going to video the thing to show I am not a total nutball.
