Default Thinking about buyin this 1st gen for our extra veh

2003 Toyota Sequoia 4dr SR5 (Natl) White SUV. A Toyota Sequoia at Classic Chevrolet - Grapevine Grapevine TX

wife and i are needing a full size three row suv and dont wanna get rid of the benz or tundra so we are thinking about spending around 10k on a 4th vehicle that would serve our needs for running around and, as she puts it, be able to park it wherever we want and not worry about it and not be as careful and park away from everyone as we do with the T or the benz. so i came across this at a dealer where i have good relationship with a salesguy so i can get it for less than their internet price. what do you guys think and what issues need to be looked at on one etc. only thing i dont understand is why with it being loaded like it is with leather and all, why does toyota think its appropriate to put work truck looking painted steel wheels on it...oh well that woulde have to be fixed. those are ugly.

Well from here it looks good. but I havent had good luck with that dealer. Two very very very bad things from them. If you know somone from there and you trust them I would say go for it.

I would ask them to have them go over the certified toyota inspection (even though it doenst qualify for it. I think it has to be less than two years old? Then again I am not for sure on this.

We are thinking about a new Sequoia in a year or so. that way I can still tow and fit 3 car seats in there. I can fit the 3 car seats in the tundra right now but it is tight.

Have you pulled a car fax on it yet?

well i bought one new truck from them, excellentt deal and great experience with the svc dept, had my corvette worked on there, my parents have bought one silverado and one hhr from them and have good experience all around. so i trust them as a dealer. i went to buy one used truck once and my sales guy said no he wouldnt sell it to me so i didnt have to ask why i just trusted him haha. only deal is i'd have to get it svcd elsewhere but since i have a yota already i am alright with that. haha.

I would say that it looks pretty good from the pics. I would try to determine a couple things though.
1) find out if it has been well maintained (at least according to the owner's manual). If the dealer thinks it was maintained properly, but can't produce any records, then insist that they replace all the fluids (engine, tranny, diffs, transfer case, coolant, etc).

2) the mileage indicates it is about due for a timing belt change. See if you can get the dealer to agree to replace if for you. You'd be faced with that expense in short order.
