1Gen-SequoiaGeneral discussion forum for the first generation 2001 to 2007 Toyota Sequoia.
This is a discussion thread titled "Rear Wiper/Washer DEAD!", within the 1Gen-Sequoia forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
The rear wiper and washer have become inoperative on my 2001 Sequoia. I have looked for a fuse but to be honest, I'm unsure which one it is. If someone knows which fuse it is, I'd appreciate your help. Have the switches been a problem? I don't feel it's the motor as neither the wiper or the washer work. Thanks for your help.
Is it all the way up? Stupid question yes, but my wife left the window a little down, still looked closed but nothing worked. Try rolling it down and then back up again. There is a switch internally that shuts off power to the system if it's not closed all the way (defroster also).
The window LOOKED all the way up but I rolled it all the way down and back up again. Now, the wiper works! Thanks a bunch. I told someone today that I finally had my first out of warranty problem with my Sequoia. Thanks to you, we didn't have to take it to the shop. As usual, someone in this group always takes the time to help. Thanks again.
At least it was an easy fix! Glad I could help. It's one of those, I did it but don't want to admit how long it took to figure out and fix it things.
Funny story from today. No, I'm not joking / lying on this. My friends wife just called a locksmith to get into her car because the door wouldn't unlock (her keyless remote battery was dead but she didn't know it!) When we pulled up to the house we saw the locksmith just getting out of his truck. Her car has NO alarm just keyless entry. DUH use the key in the lock, I still can't stop laughing that was 5 hours ago. My friend.......doesn't want to show his face or talk to his wife. ($75 for the visit from locksmith but he did get a new battery for the remote!)
You read about these things happening but until you see it.........
I had the same problem. I thought at first it was a fuse too. When I wasn't finding which one it was right away, I quit wasting any more time. I got on this site and you had the answer. I rolled the rear window down and back up and Bingo it worked! Sequoiasoon, you the man! Thanks!!!!!
Do you guys use the rear wiper often? The only time I've used mine was on the test drive before I bought the vehicle which was about 3 years ago. In the rain and light snow, the front wipers and defrosters are sufficient for me.

Funny you say that!!! I NEVER use it and I think it's SO UGLY looking!!! I wish Toyota would do away with it, I took mine off....I unscrewed it but now I dont like the way the bolt looks comeing sticking out. I was thinking of putting a hand on it with a middle finger in the air and when someone pisses me off I will turn on my wipers and make the finger go back and forth lol... But, I do think it's useless, Besides I have my back windows tinted so dark I can't see out of it in the day time. I drive useing just my sideview mirrors and I use my rear view mirror to see the people in the back seat of my truck....LOL.....Johnnnny

At least you wiper works now. Mine doesn't work and neither does the window. I haven't had a chance to bring it to the dealer yet to get it fixed. Barely over a year old.
