Well, my 2003 4X4 LTD has just passed 104K miles and I'm wondering if its time to let her go before I accumulate a bunch more miles. I drive a lot of highway miles for work and thinking it may be time to sell and get something else with lower miles and start all over again.
I'm just don't want to get to a point where the miles are simply too high to get any money for the car. I'm not too concerned with the reliability of the car but keeping the car another year will likely result in it having probably 140K miles. I've seen a few in my area for sale at Toyota dealers with 120K+ miles and they are asking $13K for them.
Seqouia should hit 250k miles easy....right about now I wouldn't buy anything new...I plan on keeping mine until the engine falls on the floor.....If I buy something else it won't be an SUV...something sporty is what I have in mind. I'll keep Seqouia for hauling, traveling, and grocery trips....
I've got no doubt the Sequoia will hit 250K. It truly is a solid car. Having recently bought an enclosed trailer to haul, I am seriously wishing I had the newer 5spd tranny in the 05'+ models.
I am considering moving down a notch in size to a 06-07' V8 4Runner. I think I'll be happier with the slightly smaller size rig with the newer V8 engine. I put a lot of miles on the car for work and I just don't want to drive the Sequoia into the ground to a point where it has virtually no resale value. I have no intention of keeping it forever so I'm really torn as to should I sell now or wait another year.
A review of the used car sites shows there are not too many LTD 4x4's available. I think I may post it on Craigslist at a slightly higher than book value and see if it sells. If she does, great, if not, I'll be okay with her for awhile longer.

... How much more are you looking to get right now compared to when you put more miles on it?
i have the same dilema , i have an 03 tundra with 120k ,the have same engine and tranny. did the timing belt and wp at 110k, a year ago. It's paid , and still running good, my only worry is the tranny failing but it's been good so far. If you dont need a big suv , try an sell it. Keep it otherwise and dont worry about reliability.
I never buy a vehicle for its re-sale or trade in value.
So its hard to say what you should do.
I have an 01 with 110k and plan on driving it until the wheels fall off.
I agree with a couple of the others; planning driving habits or vehicle purchases on resale value alone is silly. I knew a freaky Corvette owner that would never take his car out if there was a chance of rain...and it was LEASED!
Anyway it seems to me it's like someone saying they don't want to make extra money because they will owe more taxes.
If you feel you need a vehicle change, do it. But if it's just because of the possible drop in value...I would guess whatever you buy (especially newer) would drop just as much over the same time.
