Default Sequoia Cold intake....reviews?

Anyone have a cold air intake on their Sequoia?

Im looking at getting something like this for mine...but I dont want to drop a few hundred unless it actually is worth it.

You will not notice any gains unless you are running at WOT. Save your money. If you want to help your engine breathe a little better, you can drill out some holes in the airbox.

Try a few searches, and you'll find a lot of info here (though no huge gains!). For me, headers made a nice improvement and for not much money.

Depends on how fast you want to go. Speed = money. The biggest restriction for most stock motors are the log-style exhaust manifolds. You can get some headers and net around 20 - 30 peak rwhp. After that, a supercharger would net you the biggest gains/dollar, barring nitrous oxide. The TRD S/C is designed to work with the stock air box and filter, so that should tell you something about any gains a cold air unit would make on a stock motor. Basically none. You don't really need a cat-back system, unless you just want it to sound better, and who doesn't? I would guess 5 - 10 peak rwhp.

I added the K&N Cold Air intake to my 02 Sequoia and it did make some difference. It seems that the 0-60 speed may be a little bit faster. It only sounds different when you accelerate.

If you're going to run the FIPK set-up, it won't make much difference unless you have the exhaust or headers...and the uni-chip will help a little to remap it. The throttle response is much better. After doing the air box mod on two other of my trucks...I've noticed that it is not even close to the actual FIPK in air flow, throttle response or performance.

If you want the biggest bang for the buck without doing headers and or a supercharger (if you can find one), I would recommend swapping out the gears for some 4:56's to give you some nice low end grunt....and it will help if you decide to throw on some taller tires in the future.
