Default Anyone install a footwell light on passenger side ?

Hi all . After searching for a month I found and bought a 04 Natural White Ltd w Grey interior . The vehicle has 98K miles and seems to be in excellent condition . I'm not that familiar with Sequoia's but needed a dependable boat towing vehicle .

I've noticed that I don't have a passenger footwell light and was wondering if anyone has installed one and how they did it ?

I have done that and it is worth it. I basically cut the wire to remove the light, added a resistor followed by two LED lights. I did this about two years ago and just went to Radio Shack. They figured out which resistor I needed for the two LEDs. They had a lot of LEDs but I got the brighter white ones for about $5 each. Mounted them up under the dash next to the center console.

Good luck, it is a good mod to do. Welcome to TS!

Thx for the reply MtTrout . I figured that I was going to have to splice into the current wire and run another one across ( under ) the dash . Why did you have to run a resistor before the lights and what wattage bulbs did you use ?

I am looking forward to this forum for help . Before this I belonged to the Chevy Avalanche forum and a BMW forum and was blown away at all the info and instructions that was available for DIY's . There was definately a lot of good support on those forums and participants where very diligent in responses . I hope once I get to know my Sequoia better I will be able to help as well .

Without a resistor, LED lights would be burned out by the 12v power supply to the current light.

The power that an LED needs varies on the type, color, size, etc... If you go to Radio Shack and pick out two high powered white LED bulbs they can calculate the resistor size you need to solder to the power wire BEFORE the first LED bulb in order to provide the correct power to illuminate both LEDs. The resistor is very small, just slightly larger than the wire...so it isn't a big deal.

It is unlikely you will spend more than $12 and 30 minutes of time on this project.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thx , Sounds like a good idea . See if I can't get to it next week . Do you remember what size bulb you used ? I saw on RS site they have 5mm bulbs . And I saw some nifty bulb holders too .

Well I had some time to kill today and went ahead and installed 2 LED's in the footwells . 1 on each side next to the kick panels . Not to brite and uniformally lit . Thx MtTrout for your info . I wired them in series with resistor and they work perfect . Now maybe I need to look at LED's for the whole cabin .

I know a bunch of people know about this site, but superbrightleds.com is why I used to LED the whole cabin. Every bulb is pure white and it didn't cost much more than $20 (I did the backup lights and license plate lights as well) I have not had a problem with them and they got to my house in like 4 days. They have a chart to tell exactly what you need for each light in your seq. I highly reccomend this company. Good luck...cheap and cool mod

That is great! Another thing I did was tap into the cigarette tray light and do the same thing only to light up the center console tray. To do this, I drilled a hole in the bottom of the cigarette tray and then bought an LED clip that holds it secure. It is pretty nice in the dark to be able to see the tray.
