You should be able to find a replacement without having to reuse the holder. As for the Neo4x, I cannot speak to a 2002, but thy were correct for a 2003. I pulled one of them and did some basic measurements. Looking at the picture, I was thinking it was going to be the Neo3x, but when I measured just the distance between the contacts, it was clear that 4x was the right choice.

I don't see why a 2002 would be any different. I used some needle nosed pliers and just turned the back of the bulb holder. It should twist right out. If you buy from superbrighLEDs the NEO4x comes with the exact bulb and holder. I do not think you can reuse the existing holder like the other bulbs. Did I answer your question?

I pulled the IP module completely out of the truck and got it on the workbench. The HP leds fit, but the contacts were a little stiff. It was much easier to swap them out while flat on the table.

I was curious as to how the backlighting was routed to light up the whole IP. Just as I thought, just a clear plastic panel to capture the light and distribute it. I pulled the whole thing apart until I got down to the expensive looking bits. Everything snapped back into place.

The backlighting is much better and much less patchy with the HP leds. Note: Disconnect the battery and let sit a few minutes to clear out the check-engine and traction control lights on the IP. My IP didn't like getting completely unplugged.

Good to hear your getting into the knitty gritty. So does it just spread the light better or is it actually a bright white...or both?

About to replace all the interior lights with super whites from superbrightleds.com

Trying to work out what exactly I need.

Lower Door lights - 194? x4
Vanity lights - 194? x2
Rear Vanity lights - what bulb? x3
Rear Hatch light - what bulb? x1
Rear license plate - 168? x2

Also, which style 194 do I want? There are several different options. Is the 360 worth it?

Do I go with the mini wedge or regular?

What are my forgetting? I am not going to do the IP this time around...

Thanks,
Jonny

OSRAM SYLVANIA - Replacement Guide - Start

I do not know what year you have, so check out this link to sylvania. They have the complete guide for all interior light sizes you need. Matches up very well, I changed out my full interior using the chart. If you have any questions about them check out the cross referance chart on superbrightleds.com. Also, for a STATE fan, I will answer whatever questions you have if you can't make sense of the chart.

I used the mini wedge and they all fit.

WLED-x4 (194 type) Wedge Base bulbs Specifications

Those are the ones that I used for most the interior. Only lights I have not changed are the vanity mirror lights in the sun visor. They sell them on vleds.com but I didn't want to pay $8 or whatever for something I never see. Also, I did not get the 360 bulbs and it looks just fine. Plenty of light with just the standard output.

For my 2004:
All doors - 194
Map Lights - 194
Trunk Light - I think 3610
License Plate - 168

For my 2004:
All doors - 194
Map Lights - 194
Trunk Light - I think 3610
License Plate - 168
My apologies - it's an 02.

So:

4 x 194 for the door lights
2 x 168 for license plate
2 x 194 for front map lights
2 x 194 for rear map lights
1 x 3022 for trunk light

In the center of the vehicle at the 2nd row of seats there are the 2nd row map lights and also a center light that is part of that dome. Is it also a 194 or is it a 3022?

Thanks again man,
Jonny

P.S. Big game this Saturday

Well, I wanted to get everything ordered - so I just ordered a little extra of everything just in case

Nothing like spending $100 on bulbs that don't even need replaced in the first place!

Glad to see a Sequoia on here with an LED swap!! Now I can't wait to see the pics...

I did something similar a few months ago, just replaced the basic interior lights with leds from v-leds.com (map, cargo, trunk, door, license plate, taillights, turn signals). I loved how it turned out, made the vehicle much BRIGHTER!!

Now my next task: to replace the instrument panel lights because after 8 years, they just aren't as bright and nowhere near as bright as the new Sequoia's which of course has a completely different design now. Anyways with help from you guys, I want to tackle this task.

I want to keep the current color scheme of the ip but my main focus is the odometer and rpm display. Since I want to keep the current scheme, are the original ip bulbs white with a plastic color film placed above them to project the various colors or are there actually different colored bulbs for each section?

How do you rate the difficulty of replacing these bulbs? How do you remove the instrument panel itself?

Question #1 - Yes they are amber color bulbs with a green cover (condom) over them. I pulled them off and put it back together and was not impressed with the color.

Question #2 - I would say 4/10 on difficulty. I have taken apart the dash probably 10 times and can do it in less than 5 minutes now.
I will do my best to explain, but its hard without me looking at it.

*take a picture of the ip while seq is running just in case the needles get bumped. Some tundra people had to do this, I have not seen a seq person having a problem with it
**I did not have a problem with it because they just went back to normal place

Lower your steering wheel all the way down
Unscrew the trim around the ip. I believe there are two screws just above the display
Pull the trim out completley (plastic oval piece the makes trims the ip)
Takes a little bit of manuvering because it is awkward, but you can get it
Unscrew the 4 screws (2 on top/2 on bottom) of the ip
Pull out the ip should have 3 cords hooked in to the back
I unplugged each cord so I could get the ip all the way out to work
Unscrew the plastic piece on the back
IP bulbs are there
Just turn the back of the bulb and you can get every bulb out
Takes a little bit of jiggling to get them back in because the bulb is a hair bigger

I def reccomend this. The first time I did it I was slow moving cause nobody had done a seq write up on it. I could now change a bulb in 10 min easy. If you have any questions let me know. It is a very easy project and just requires a little bit of patience and jiggling to get stuff out. Good luck and have fun!

OKState - are all of these bulbs just screw in, or do any of them need soldered?

You get any pictures yet ??

They are just plug n' play bulbs. I had to wrap a piece of tape around the bulb and pull the tape to get some grip on them. Only soldering is in the stereo and I didn't trust myself because they are super small. All the other ones just pull bulb out and put new one it.

I will try to take pics again tonight. Last time I tried they didn't turn out at all. Everything looked really gray.

Keep in mind that these bulbs behind the ip were kind of dim. Someone said the HP bulbs make it look much better, I just have not gotten around to it yet

Thanks for the write up! So what type of bulb (normal or hp) & color would you reccomend I get if I want it to keep the color scheme.

Right now I have the normal bulbs. I do not know how much of a difference the HP bulbs make. Mine is a bit patchy and not as bright as I would like (I am the only one that notices it cause its my car haha) If you have the extra couple bucks prolly the hp ones would be better I guess. I going to change a switch around a couple of the bulbs this weekend and put a hp back there just to see if its worth it.

I put white LEDs back there just to give it the luxury lexus look. When you say scheme I'm not really sure what that means, green?

But for the lighter ring, def need the HP it looks friggin good.

For the PRND2L bulbs you need the HP. The lens has a green tint and blocks a lot of the light. If you want a different color HP will shine right through and look real good.(I have Red for Reverse and Blue for Drive)

I just added some photos of the LEDs in the interior. They are in an album on my profile. I couldn't figure out how to put them on here because they were too big. The quality is not good, but best I could do at night while it was freezing. The homelink buttons up top are green to match the temp and direction screen.
