Default Timing Belt replacement parts

I am going to be replacing the timing belt on a 2002 Sequoia. I was wandering while I am at it what else do I need to replace? So far my list is:

1. Timing belt
2. Tensioner
3. Water pump
4. Water pump gasket
5. T-stat (Maybe)
6. T-stat gasket
7. Serpentine belt (Maybe)
8. Radiator Hoses

Is there any thing else I should replace?

I keep seeing references to an idler pully. Is this the same as the tensioner pully per this illustration? https://www.1sttoyotaparts.com/partscat.html. If so do I need both te right and left pully?

I have also purchased the FSM but they have not arrived. Thanks for all of the help.

Yes, I would recommend replacing both the idler pulley and the tensioner pulley (in addition to the tensioner itself). It will add a few dollars to your overall costs but well worth it. I was surprised at how much play was in each pulley when I removed mine at 96k miles. Had I known they were this loose (compared to the new ones) I would have done this job a lot sooner than I did.

Some people also replace the crank oil seal and both camshaft oil seals while everything is exposed. If we still have our '01 at 180k miles I will change them, but at 90k miles I dont find it necessary.

Also I didnt see on your list the two o-rings that are necessary for the water pump. I dont have the part numbers here but if you search some of the timing belt threads some people have the part numbers listed.

I have worked on a lot of toyos and if the crank seal and cam seals are not leaking then I leave them alone. I agree the you should do both the timing belt tensioner and the serpentine tensioner. The timing belt tensioner is usually what causes timing belt failure and not the timing belt itself.

We are getting so many requests for these 4.7 timing change parts its crazy! By the way I would change the maybe to just a yes on the t-stat and belt. Your taking everything off to get to there anyway you might as well replace them unless you have done it recently already.

Is there a list with part numbers for this job? Where is the best place to buy these from on-line?

I'm going through the same thing, need T belt replacement soon. My 04 getting 87K already, we are ready to go on a ski trip in December. I have email Shannon at Champion Toyota for asking the dealer's mechanic. They have their software with all the parts and number listed for each job.

BTW...order from them, It is a fraction of what we have to paid at the dealership or other outside stores.
