Default Drop

I want a moderate drop. Just enough to get rid of that extra story under the wheel wells, but not to where my exhaust drags, or wheels rub, or spine gets shocked on a massive rebound.

I've lowered my BMW 1.3 inches and it works REALLY well. I'm not sure what that means for an SUV. I would likely be putting 20" wheels on my Sequoia at some point.

I guess my answer to the question is:

"A moderate drop just enough to improve handling. One that requires only a swap of the springs and struts without major re-alignment modification (other than a routine realignment; no special camber plates and bushings, etc."

I'm looking at a 2" drop in front and 3" drop in the rear. Simias is looking at the same. This guy that I am talking to has already done about 90 sets of rear springs for Sequoia so we're good there. He is looking at the front to see what can be done. I will definately keep everyone posted. Thanks for your interest.

Boone/Dan,

Is your Seq 2wd or 4wd? What will the effect be to lower a 4wd Seq?

I have a 4WD. Shouldn't be a problem lowering it. As far as I know, I'm looking at an alignment just like 2WD. They make kits to lower 4WD GMC and Chevy so I know it can be done. I hope I'm not wrong

Thumbs up Found Someone

Guys and Gals, I found someone (Valley Springs in Sacramento) that is willing to do custom springs for us. They said safely, they could lower the front 1.75" and the back, pretty much anything you wanted. I'm still thinking 3". I need feedback from you. Would you be willing to purchase now, or wait and see how the first Sequoia turns out and then go from there? They have not lowered the front of a Sequoia yet so it sounds like they would like to make a set and then test fit and go from there. Any takers in the Sacramento area? As far as pricing goes, $174 for a set of 2 ($348 for all 4). Right now, this price is an aproximate if we get 6 or more people to purchase. We have not talked about shipping costs yet. Please tell me your thoughts and what questions you have. We're getting close!

Boone, is that the best price we could get for our group? Well I think the price is already reasonable but if we could tell them that we have more than 20 willing to purchase, maybe we could bargain a little lower. I also think we should start making a list on who wants to get it done. Thanks again for looking for a place that would do it for us, good job!

Reggie, sounds like he is willing to work with us on price. I haven't asked but isn't the front of the Tundra and the Sequoia the same? I'm sure Tundra owners might be interested as well. Maybe I'll work on a poll. Thoughts please!

Dan,I was also thinking of a poll and if we could get the word out to our fellow tundra owners, I think the better for all of us price wise. So lets either start another thread for a poll or just use this same thread.

Cool

Hey guys:

I just stumbled onto this thread.....my brother and I both have Tundras, his is 4x2 and mine is 4x4. We both are running 20 inch rims and are interested in leveling and dropping our trucks 2-3 inches. We do not care to slam them and "ride on the rails". Keep us in mind.....issues/concern = want to improve handling without ruining the ride, alignment, etc.

Default Lowering Springs for the Tundra

I am interested and have voted. What is the spring rate compared to stock? I would hope and expect it to be a higher rate, maybe 20% or so. It is needed because there is/would be much less suspension travel.

Wink Tire Cables /Chains

Hello all - I have no experience with cable or chains and need some expert assistance. I have talked to several people and get mixed opinions about them. I have 2 questions and would welcome any and all responses:

1) I keep hearing that cables are better than chains. Is this true?

2) Since I have a 2WD, do I only need the cables/chains for the drive wheels or do I need them for all wheels?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!!
