Default SEQ Moonroof Size?

I recently purchased an '03 SEQ. Dealer told me I could have an after market roof installed identical to a factory one. I am now finding out from the shop they sent me to that the factory roof is considerably larger than any after maket roof. Shop tells me the largest roof they install is 32" X 19". Can anyone tell me if in fact if this is the truth? Can anyone tell me the dimensions of a factory roof? Any input is sincerely appreciated.

Default 02 factory size

The measurement from glass edge to glass edge from the roof side was 39''x 21''. And thats for our factory installed moon roof in our 02 seq.

My parents have never been big fans of moonroofs, but when they saw how huge the one on the Sequoia is, they knew they had to have it.

Default Make sure you are opening all the way!

One thing to consider:

When you open the moonroof (one touch feature) it does NOT open completely. Press and hold the open button again and it retracts completely - another few inches. It took me a while to realize this and the fully open moonroof is definitely enormous.

My only complaint is the factory wind deflector seems bigger than necessary...

The moonroof doesn't open all the way for a reason. Opening it all the way creates a lot of turbulence, hence, why it stops early.

yeah, definitely try not to open it all the way when driving. i had posted a long post about this before the crash, but i shall repost what i remember.

anyways, if you open the moonroof beyond the "auto open" the sunshade will bang violently against the headliner. i forgot at what speeds, but i think it's at its worse during city driving (10mph +). it's bad at highway speeds too, but it lessens after 60mph or so. not sure on the speeds though because i had conducted my little test last year. i'd test it again during lunch, but it's raining.

Angry moonroof kind of clicking noise?

Ok. I'm a nut about my Sequoia like most of the rest of you.

I am curious if anybody else is experiencing this. I could swear I read some similar messages before but can't find them now.

Anyway I have a 2003 Limited Sequoia with about 3500 miles.

This problems seems to come and go, but has done it for the last two days so it is driving me nuts.

In the morning, (and I'm talking like 530 AM), I go out to go to work. And as I'm driving I keep getting this occasional little clicking kind of noise from what sounds like the rear end of the moonroof (while it is closed). Sounds like maybe some little metal piece moves a little bit or something. If you didn't know better, you'd say it was a big single raindrop falling on the moonroof.

And it does it pretty consistently regardless of speed, although bumps do seem to aggravate it a little more.

I've tried feeling around with my hand but cant locate the source.

Then the car sits in a warm underground garage all day till around 3 PM.

Then it doesn't do it again till the next morning.

I thought I had read about people having to use some kind of foam to silence it, but I cannot find the posts.

Any help or ideas?

E

If there is dew on the car in the morning or if it has rained, what you are hearing is the water dripping down into the drains on the moon roof.

Both my Sequoia and my Avalon do this.

I have found if you close the cover it eliminates (muffles out) the sound.

have you tried cleaning the metal railings inside the sunroof. Sometimes the dust and small pieces of dirt/rocks gets in the way of this railing, if you open your sunroof, you'll hear some clicking sounds.

I have this problem on my Celica, everytime I wash my car, I clean it and it will go away. Hopefully this helps

Pat

Angry still no luck...

Hmmmm..... it only does it in the morning. So I really thought the idea about the dew was the cause.

But it even does it on mornings when the truck, roof, etc seems totally 100% dry.

A friend of mine, riding with me, best describes it as kind of a tapping noise. It does seem to be aggravated by bumps.

I had him drive me around one morning while I sat in the back seat to try to find the noise, and of course, right then, it wouldn't do it.

Wink ok, its time for plan B

I'm dropping it off at the stealer tonight so they can (hopefully) drive it in the morning.

Maybe they'll have some ideas.

Wish me luck!
