Any of you folks option your rig with a sun roof deflector? Love the sun roof on the Sequoia, but on high way driving the wind noise is a little much. Don't know much about these deflectors, so do they work and are they worth the investment? Advantages and disadvantages of using one of these welcomed. Also any good sites to order would be helpful.
I don't have one on the Sequoia but have one on my Honda. My Honda sunroof doesn't "tilt" like the Sequoia's so it's nice to have the sunroof open about 3" when I park to get some air in there. None or very little wind noise at all. Like it on the Honda, wouldn't put one on the Sequoia though. Don't know if this helps ya.
My wife's Avalon had one. After a year, I took it off. It had been leaving little scratches in the paint under the rubber bottom of the deflector. I've noticed no difference in the wind noise.
I have one on mine. I like it. It seems to cut out some of the noise but not all of it. I got mine right from the dealer the day I bought mine. I think it was only about $ 76.00......
Does anybody notice that when the sunroof is all the way open, turbulence is generated in the sliding sunshade? I also notice some turbulence with the windows down.
"As driving with the moon roof opened fully will cause wind throbs, we recommend you to drive with the moon roof partway 135 mm (5.3 in.) from the fully opened position."
(p. 33 in the manual)
When you open it automatically, it's the 1st position that it stops. I just got my Sequoia last night, so I haven't driven it with the roof open to see if their recommendation actually works. It's still 115 Deg here in the desert!
that is one thing about my sequoia so far that I don't like. You have to be carefull with the moonroof or you get to much wind noise. And I can't have the back window down while driving or else I could kill myself toyota says. I have a couple of dogs and they like the windows down. Would a moon roof shield work at all. Does anyone have one on their Sequoia? Does it help at all? I really didn't want to get one but I want to open the moon roof while I drive down the road.

It does work. I used to wonder why the moonroof would stop before sliding all the way and now I see why. BIG difference!

yeah, try not to open it all the way. best to leave it where it stops automatically because the sunshade will bang violently against the headliner once you start picking up speed.

Has anyone seen a Sequoia without a moonroof? My local dealer says Toyota doesn't build any except for special orders, and would take a long time (ie 4 months +) to get one in. That is fine with me, I'm not in any big hurry at this point but I'm wondering what the overhead console looks like without the moonroof. I have heard (don't remember where) that the overhead console extends farther back when the moonroof is not present.
I don't have anything against the moonroof as both of my current vehicles have them, but I find that I don't use them that much and wonder about their long term durability, as this is a vehicle I'll want to keep for as long as possible (I have delusions of 10-15 yrs).

Yes, the "non-moonroof" model comes with a center mount console. It contains.............mmmmm...like FOUR sunglass holder type flip down compartments. (See your local Sunglass Hut dealer, and shop now)
Yes, it extends well into what would normally be covered by a moonroof
Yes, you can find a DVD system that utilizes the "last" compartment (towards the rear of the truck).
Personally? The 1st Sequoia I was interested in was a TRD model without the moonroof, but the dang console, with its multiple identical compartments kinda turned me off. I was told it was a 3 month wait to get one WITH the sunroof. *shrug*
FWIW. Its been a couple of months since I was looking, but when I was looking, I found many more SR5 models without the moonroof addition (and readily available) here in the SET territory than I did Limited models.
