Default went to meineke today

The other day, I was told by one of my friends that Meineke is having a sale for catbacks dual exhaust system for suvs and I checked it out, and it was true. They were having a Cat-Back, Duals, Performance Muffler System for suv's only $350 installed (includes 1 muffler, 2 tail pipes, hangers, clamps and connector pipe. Stainless muffler and/or pipes and stainless or chrome tips are extra. Catalytic converter is not included. Fits most trucks and SUVs. Valid only at participating locations.). Not a bad deal huh. Anyways so I finally had time yesterday to go to Meineke and they checked out the vehicle to see if it was possible. The mechanic told me its somewhat impossible to get the true effect of a dual exhaust because the problem with the Sequioa is that there is no room on the left to run the pipes staight through because of the left rear body frame, right by the axel. He said he can still build one if I wanted one but I wouldn't be getting my moneys worth. Another problem they'd have is getting the pipe around the spare wheel. I told him that there are a few companies like Borla that make a dual exhaust system and he said that they must be bolt-ons pretty much and I agreed with him. What Meineke does is that they build custom exhausts too. So the mechanic said he'll do a little research later online to see how the other kits are for the Sequioa and he'd give me a call back. Hopefully he'll find one because I'd rather not pay nearly a grand for a kit from Borla if Meineke is able to make a dual exhaust which is what I really want. It'd be nice to save a few hundred from this mod, then I would almost have enough to buy the UniChip. Anyways what do you guys think, is there another option for me to still have the effect of a dual exhaust with the dual rear exiting pipes without having to pay as nearly enough for the Borla kits? Thanks.

Pagal...keep us posted. I am interested in this deal also. I live in MA and am going to call my local shop to see if they offer this deal. Who makes the system? Did you happen to hear what one sounds like?

I didn't ask who makes the system since they said it most likely wouldn't work on my seq, but go here http://www.meineke.com/services/performance.asp and then click on sounds and just rollover the tundra, I think it sounds pretty good. But if anythings comes up, I'll def keep you posted.

Update: 8/10/04-

Bad News: I went to Mieneke again today because last week I gave them a few pics as to what the dual exhausts look like for the seq's since they said they couldn't make one....thier decision still stands and they said that I was better off buying the Borla kit. I think its because the fact they actually have to make a pipe to fit around the spare tire is preventing them from making a dual exhaust system.

Good News: My exhaust is now odor free!!! Now I can finally take a deep breath and not worry about the disgusting sulfur smell.

Ok I'll take that back, I can't say the exhaust is odor free because there is still a slight smell under heavy acceleration, I guess the TSB was to reduce the smell, not completely get rid of it. Anyone who have had the tsb performed for the exhaust still get a slight smell?

I still get some smell, not nearly as bad as before the TSB. Did the tech place a sticker under your hood as posted in the TSB? Mine did not.

Default 2003 Sequoia TRD catback pics

Just in case you haven't seen the goods, here's a picture of the stock and TRD catback.

It's been on a year now, and the tip is discolored from heat. I did not notice an improvement in mileage or power, but the sound is good. I never did reset the CPU ....

Question Cat-back for '05 Sequoia?

Anyone seen a cat-back system yet for the '05 sequoia VVT-I motor? Not sure if it is the same as the '04. I e-mailed Borla about it today but haven't heard anything yet.

Unhappy Info from Borla

Finally talked with someone at Borla. They basically said don't expect Cat-back system for 05 sequoia any time soon. They claimed the Sequoia was not a popular enough vehicle to merit any higher priority. Sure makes me never want to buy anything from Borla.......EVER!

Has anyone put true dual exhaust on their 05 yet?? Also, would it be the same as any other year Sequoia? Has anything changed under the 05 that would have to make the exhaust route change??

Question

I see that this post was started a wile back. So, my question is did Borla or anyone else ever make a true dual side exit exhaust for a Sequoia yet?? If so, does anyone have any pictures and/or opinions about it? Maybe a sound clip??? And if Borla or anyone else did make it for the Sequoia will it fit on a 05?? Thanks, John

Bassani custom made me one for my 05. Originally, I tried putting on their current Sequoia exhaust they sell with fitment issues. To make a long story short, they had to make a new "over the axle pipe", because of some interference with some floorboard heat sheilds that 05's have and the earlier models don't. Check out my gallery pics for some photos.
Take care,
John
BTW, It's for sale here. (the exhaust)
