Question 3rd (way-back) Seat Rattle

We have a 2002 Sequoia SR 5 which is still under warranty. When no one is sitting in the third seat, it rattles over the smallest bump in the road. If one person sits in the seat, the unoccupied side rattles. It appears to be the latch which allows the seat to tumble forward. Several trips to the dealer all say it is "functioning normally".

Has any one solved this?

Thank you.

In my experience, it rattles only when the seats are not fully latched on. One side of the mechanism may click into the latch but not the other one. Redoing it solves the problem for me. Make sure there's nothing underneath the seats (like a thick map, books, umbrella) or inside the latch (screws, stones, dirt) before latching them on. This can prevent the seats from going into the latches properly.

Hope this helps.

mine did the same... ended up putting friction tape on the metal "bars" on the floorboard that the seats latch on to... seems to have solved 95% of the problem.

Try shooting a little WD-40 where the seat(s) latch onto the floor bar.

Lubrication? WD-40? What does that got to do with rattling sounds?
