Default How do you get all of your Technical Service Bulletins Fixed?

The paid memebership is awesome! I just printed all of my TSB's for my Sequoia.

Now What? Do you go to the dealer and hand all of them in and say "Please fix all of these?"

A lot of them say only if a customer complains about the specific problem. BUt I may not have the problem right now, but want to prevent it from ever happening.

Do the dealer like repairing all of this stuff because they get paid for it?

I would love to get all of this taken care of all at once rather than bringing in one at a time with my regular service work.

Default getting the TSB's fixed

With only 2000 miles left of warranty I am trying this approach.

The A/C was fixed in May. That is what made me start looking at potential problems for the Sequoia and how Toyota seems to hide them, hoping the warranty ends before they show up.

I took the printout of all the TSB's looked throught the VIN numbers that would apply and found the ones that pertained to my model.

Found: JBL Amplifier, Sulfur Odor, Seat fabric, moon roof, fuel door, brake vibration and a couple of other small items that could apply to my model.

Then I took the sheets and went to the vehicle and actually looked for the faults. I found the JBL amplifier, sulfur odor, brakes...
The other items I could not get the problem to replicate.

Now I have made a list of the faults I have found and am planning to visit the service manager to get them fixed. The sulfur odor and amplifier I complained about since I purchased the vehicle and was always told this was normal. Now I have proof that I was not wrong and these items are bad.

Basically I plan on telling them to fix them. Or they will never see me as a customer again. I buy a vehicle every 12-18 months and always from them except for the last 2 that I purchased in the last 6 months. They lost those sales because they screwed me on a TSB that existed for my Avalon that I did not find out about till the warranty expired. But I was always being told that the noise was normal and it wasn't. The strut bushings were going bad. Took Midas to tell me that a TSB existed for the problem but the warranty had ended.

Good luck getting the TSB's fixed....

I was understanding that the TSB only applies to SEQ. '02 and later year models only.

Am I wrong?

Several of the TSBs state that they'll only be honored if the customer states there is a direct problem. E.g. you can't just get the rear A/C replaced if you don't see symptoms. They cover their hind-end this way.

My 2002 SR5 had 28,500 miles on it when I bought it.

I found all the TSBs, printed out a stack of them that affected my truck, and took them with me to the dealership. I complained that the A/C was cutting in and out, and that while the truck was there, I had these other TSBs describing problems I experienced with my truck and handed him the stack.

He made note of the problems on a work order, handed the stack back to me, and I picked up the truck a few days later...new A/C, new brakes, amplifiers, etc etc etc

They took good care of me. Maybe I was lucky. Of course, if/when I decide to buy another Toyota, or need to have nonwarranty work done on the truck, I'll certainly be taking care of them in return. Good service is so damn scarce these days...
