1Gen-SequoiaGeneral discussion forum for the first generation 2001 to 2007 Toyota Sequoia.
This is a discussion thread titled "Improving gas milage advice", within the 1Gen-Sequoia forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
So true. The real goal isn't just to improve gas mileage. The real goal is lower cost per mile. Too many folks lose sight of that. There might be a certain brand of gasoline that might cost more but in the end gives a lower cost per mile. That kind of thinking is what is needed.

I understand that when people buy, they don't take into account that gas prices won't stay at 1.48/gal. When gas gets over $2.00/gal, then people start to look at ways to reduce that expense. Seems normal to me.
i was browsing around through some old threads and came across this post..
gas was $1.48 at one point?!?! holy
sometimes i wish i had a time machine...hmm wheres that dolorean??

Suspension: 2" front lift by Bilstein 5100 coilovers and rear yellow Bilstein shocks.
A few things, not mentioned, that could improve mileage: remove roof rail crossbars to improve aerodynamics, Also remove bug deflectors and vent shades (if installed).
I've slightly overinflated my tires (a few pounds over vehicle recommendation), removed 3rd row seats, added the cold air ram mod, and worked on my driving technique. I'm considering removing the factory hitch (I've used one time in 4 years) to reduce a more weight.
An item for thought--- In the 70s car started coming with an air dam under the front bumper to improve MPG by reducing drag under the car.
The new GM SUVs have their front bumper extended down, leaving about 8" of clearance.
The 2008 Ford Super Duty series trucks have an air dam that may be adaptable. It could line up with the front edge of the skid plate (not the option one) and may not hang any lower the the bottom of the skid plate, providing a 8" +/- air dam.
Has anyone fabricated and installed an air dam on their Sequoia?
