1Gen-SequoiaGeneral discussion forum for the first generation 2001 to 2007 Toyota Sequoia.
This is a discussion thread titled "What is your Sequoia's 'averaging' MPG?", within the 1Gen-Sequoia forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
If the info I've read in this thread... http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forum...ad.php?t=30625 about the new '05 Double Cab... is... any indication... then... it's probably a safe bet... it "IS" mostly just that... "hype"!
The new DC was supposed to deliver somewhere around 18/23 MPG according to Toyota's website, but in... "actuality"... the few TS members who've bought an '05 are... basically... for the most part... only getting about 1 MPG more than the '04's are!

I got 13.8mpg on my first tank. It was about 60% city, 40% highway. I'm hoping it will go up quite a bit as the engine breaks in. It's actually not a major concern since my wife won't be putting many miles on it.

Bummer. I was hoping that would be the deal breaker between an 04 and an 05. 1 mpg just doesn't di it.
We have not had the mileage we expected. We average about 11 miles/gallon. We drive approximately 75% city and 25% highway. My wife is the only driver and she is not a lead foot.
03 Seq mostly highway been lucky to get 16mpg. Looking to put in the K&N FIPK and better flowing exahust.
Doubtful the FIPK will help.. especially at the RPM that most run on the hwy (<3000rpm). Plus you will be allowing more dirt in the engine vs. using the stock filter.
I know this thread is about the '05 Seq. but my '03 Seq has read 15.9 MPG for the past year and a half. 70% highway 30% city. Btw when I first got it the MPG read 16.8 on my first tank.
Thanks to all of you guys who reported in. I'm getting 17 or so in my plymouth van, so I've been try to see what kind of a hit I'll take when I get my Sequoia. If its only a couple of mpg, no sweat.
I originally put in an amsoil filter to help but that seems to have been a mute point. Has anyone tried the K&N they claim better airflow while keeping dirt out. I guess a better exhaust would help as well.
