Unhappy Headlights do not turn off

    Hello all,

Just yesterday, my headlights refuse to turn off - at all.
Went to the dealer, they shook their heads. It has a remote starter, so they changed that, suspecting that it messed up the headlights somehow. Did not solve anything. Supposed to come back to the dealer tomorrow. In the meantime, they showed me to unplug a relay to turn it off manually. Hmmmm.

Has anybody experienced this? Is there a known solution? I'd hate for them to take everything apart.

    Thanks in advance.

    Gil.

    First: is it on auto?

If it is................is there anything covering the sensors on top of the dash?

If you turn the swithch to off................do the dash lights turn off?

    Just some questions

gillygan - I ran into a similar problem. I ended up opening and shutting every door to make sure they were completely closed and I haven't had a problem since. Not sure if that solved the problem or coincidence with something else?! Good Luck!

    TundraV84Me and Boone;

All the doors are closed - we double checked on that. That was my first thought - I remembered reading it in the manual somewhere.

And no, it's not automatic headlights. Manual-R-Us.
When I switched it to "off" position, the dashboard lights do
turn off, leaving the headlights and the parking lights on.

This morning, around 6:30 A.M., I came out to go to work, and the headlights were on (by itself!). I don't know how long it has been on, probably not too long, since the car started with no problem. Headlights did not shut off. I went to have a smoke, and sometime somewhere in the course of 10 minutes, I noticed that the headlights turned itself off. Weird, no? This is quite amusing.

Off to the dealership again. Maybe they should just give me a new vehicle. heheee.

    Thanks,
    Gil.

Mine come on when I trigger the auto door lock (off or on). They will come on and go off in a minute or so. Could the problem be in the auto door lock system (if you have one)?---Buzz

Sounds like a short in the wiring somewhere, maybe bad relay.

have you tried swapping the relay that you pull to turn them off? Or possibly a bad fuse in the under hood fuse block feeding the lights

It started after my wife took it through the car wash on a 2 degree day. I am not going to try anything until it thaws in a few days. If it is still an issue at that point I will check the fuses. Thank you,

My sequoia does this. I think its a form of daytime running lights. I do notice that If I turn the car off, and cycle the lights through from auto to off and back to auto they shut off. Otherwise they shut off after a few minutes of being parked. its like courtesy light or something.

    I think its intentional.
