Default Confirmation on P.I.E adaptor and 6 disc head unit for '05 Sequoia

I just received my P.I.E. TOY03-AUX adapter today and installed it. I can confirm that it works flawlessly in the '05 Sequoia with the 6 disc in-dash JBL head unit.
I hard wired my overhead monitor and console mounted DVD player to the adapter and threw out the FM modulator. It sounds 100% better. No more static and noise.
Simply pushing the "Disc" button twice on the head unit switches the input. The head unit displays "CD-1". All of the steering wheel controls function as normal.

I also did not see the problems posted elswhere on this board regarding the dash light dimmer switch and the AUX input cutting out. Maybe that is an issue only with the TOY-AUX adapter for older models?

My next project will be to install the SON-AUX adapter I received as well to add an electronically switched second set of RCA inputs for my ipod or a future XM receiver. I will report back on my success.

Is your DVD the factory piece or aftermarket? Is your Seq. equiped with rear seat audio? Can you listen to your AM/FM/CD/XM while the kids are listening to the DVD?

Thanks

You must be looking hard for some answers! I can't help you much, but I will explain what I have.
I have an after market 15" overhead monitor and an after market DVD head unit mounted inside the front console. This system was installed by the dealer with an FM modulator behind the head unit in the dash. I simply removed the FM modulator and hard wired the system to my factory head unit with the P.I.E. adaptor.
My Sequoia did not come with the factory rear audio controls.
The Audiovox monitor/TV tuner I have came with a pair of wireless headphones. The kids can listen to a DVD movie through the headphones while I play the radio, CD, etc for myself up front.

I'm not sure what you are looking for. If you want the kids to be able to listen to a movie through the rear door speakers while you listen to another source through the front speakers...........I don't think that is possible without two head units and two speaker systems. I am not familiar with the rear seat audio controls, but they would have to be wired directly to your DVD unit to be controled seperately from the head unit.

Personally, I think the wireless headphones are an awesome idea. My son can listen to his movie without outside interference and control the volume himself while I listen to a CD or the radio through the JBL factory system. Plus, the headphones make great earmuffs when my son falls asleep and forgets to take them off!

I guess my question to you then is why have the DVD hardwired if the kids use the headphones.

The rear audio system without DVD is a way for the rear seat to control the music source to be heard through headphones. However, if you use the radio in the rear, which you would have to do with the FM modulator, you are limited to the CD player as your only alternate source in the front.

I don't always use the headphones in the rear for DVD watching. Besides, I can play CD's and MP3's through the DVD player as well.

We're talking about two different things. My ride does not have the factory audio controls in the rear. My DVD/TV/Game system is a totally seperate aftermarket, self-contained system that does not hijack any functions of the factory head unit. you simply have two options to listen to the DVD system. 1) Wireless IR headphones or 2) through the factory head unit and speaker system either by FM modulator or, in my case, a direct connection to the Aux input.

I agree we are talking about 2 different things. I was trying to accomplish 2 things in last post: (1) explain rear audio which you indicated that you were unfamiliar with and (2) understand why you would hardwire the DVD. Based on the fact that you can play CD's and MP3 through the DVD, I can understand why you would hardwire.

However, I guess my quest to find an answer continues. Thanks for your input though.
