Question No warning tone for key

Recently purchased "certified" used '01 SR5 Seq. Wife noticed that no warning buzzer or tone if headlights are left on or key is left in ignition.

I would think those would be standard in any vehicle. Does this mean they have been somehow disabled? Shouldn't this have been part of the certification check?

Leave your lights on, take out the key and see if they'll automatically shut off after ~45 seconds. My '03 ltd does, so I suspect yours does too.

I had the same problem for my Key in the ignition when I got out of the truck.. Dianne over at Carson (I'm in NY, and my dealer couldn't figure it out), solved it..

The truck didn't know I got out, and left the lights on and/or didn't buzz when the key was still in the Ign.

It was the drivers side trip pin was bent (you know that little push swtich in the door sill that turns the overhead light on and off.

Fixed it, and my lights went off, and car made noise when I opened door , and key was still in (also wouldn't let me lock doors if key was in the ignition).
