Has anyone found a way to boost the volume to the rear speakers on the factory jbl system???(added a subwoofer or more speakers to the rear/trunk area etc) For some odd reason the volume to the rear passengers is much lower. If i had someone sitting in the third row they probably couldnt hear the stereo at all. I have a 03 sr5 with the factory JBL 10 speaker premium system with rear audio controls, no dvd. Any help would be great
Also has anyone found an upgrade for the front door speakers. Crutchfield, etc doesnt list any for the front door??

I had the exact same problem with my 01' Limited, but through this site I found out there was a TSB for this particular issue. I was able to get the rear amplifier replaced using my extended warranty. The difference was like night and day. The rear speakers seriously crank now. Even if there is not a TSB for your 03' model I would have it checked out because I don't think that such low volume in the rear is normal. The good thing is that you must still be under warranty. Good luck.
Yup, I just got the TSB done on my Sequoia about 2 months ago under extended warranty. New amps definitely makes the difference. Funny how I told the dealer that there is a TSB, however, they insists of ordering the new head unit. After installing the new head unit, of course it did not fixed the problem, so then they order the amps (put the old head unit back into the truck). Nevertheless, after 3 visits my problem was solved.
I have a similar problem in my '04 w/JBL, not much could be heard in the 3rd row but that's just because there's no speakers back there. We take a lot of road trips and I get a lot of complaints about not being able to hear movie dialogue from the 3rd row. So I bought a pair of Kicker tweeters and 4x10's over the weekend. I'm planning on mounting the tweeters up high on the b-pillars and the 4x10's in the 3rd row storage pockets which should fit really nicely with a custom plate. With 75 watts rms to each tweeter and speaker, the 3rd row sound should sound better than the front, especially for DVDs. Later, I'm planning on adding a flat Kicker 8" midbass to each rear door panel storage compartment via a custom slim sealed enclosure, has anyone done this, how's the sound? I just don't want to sacrifice any storage space. They should make a Sequoia XL based on the Tundra D.C., anybody agree?
Bummer to hear no tbs on the low volume. I will still check with the dealer, this condition cant be right.
I would be interested in how Vermacelli's upgrade goes, although I am reluctant to go too far with upgrades. I did upgrade the rear door speakers to 3-way units thinking that it would help, but there was no change in volume and the fit wasnt factory as Chutchfield inicated. Good luck.

My drop down DVD has a small amp for "wired" headphones I put a small 30 watt amp on it going to 2 speakers (3 1/2") These fit PERFECTLY in one of the 3rd row cup holders. If you ever change your mind the cup holders are a seperate piece that is very easy to replace. A little more mod'ing or cutting and 4" possibly 5" would fit also. You can also seal off the bottom under that area for better base but still allowing storage under it.
One of the things I did to compensate was adjust the fade so that when I turned up the stereo for the rear passengers to hear, I didn't kill my ears up front. That really helped.

I am interested in your speaker addition. Any clue where I can wire these additional speakers as i I dont a dvd, just the rear audio controls package?

I have an '01 Sequoia but everything's out of warranty of course. Can anyone provide the Toyota part number to replace the AMP mentioned in AU001-02 TSB? Mine went out some time ago - no volume basically at all to rear seats - very low.
Is a replacement Toyota amp the best choice/option for this problem?
Thanks.

Dang. Actually I never noticed it as I never sit in the rear, until some buddies told me to crank it when I could hear it just fine up front. I'm well out of warranty but wouldn't mind getting a little upgrade... namely in the bass and rear volume department. For now i'll just resort to fading to the rear.
