1Gen-SequoiaGeneral discussion forum for the first generation 2001 to 2007 Toyota Sequoia.
This is a discussion thread titled "I got my Sequoia", within the 1Gen-Sequoia forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I picked up my new Sequoia from Dianne on Friday. The one month wait seemed a lot longer than I thought it would but it was worth it because I got it equipped exactly the way I want it (within the limits of available options). All that's left is getting the door panels trimmed in matching leather and the entertainment system.
One surprise was that the roof rack hit the garage door when I first got home. I had test fit an Expedition a few months ago with no problem and supposedly the Sequoia is a little shorter than the Expedition so I didn't think there would be an issue. I guess I didn't take into account that the Alloy wheel package comes with the 265 tires as opposed to the standard 245s and the Sequoia roof rack is probably a little taller (the cross pieces are more bowed than the Expedition). Luckily, I was able to adjust the gargae door opener to open a little farther and it now clears. Dodged a bullet there. The wife would have killed me if the new truck didn't fit in the garage.
Of course, as many have previously related, ordering through Dianne was a very pleasant and trouble free experience.
CONGRATS!! now start saving up for DVDs because once you get the ent system in your ride the kids will be picking up a new movie every time you head out to the store.
btw, Dianne is tops and the wait is only a minor delay to getting something that you "really" want!
Chris

Is there a kit for the door trim to match the seats? I just got my new sequoia and did not relise the the SR5 doors had cloth even though the seats were leather.
pacjr - I suspect there are several companies that sell these but the installer I am using buys them from Katzkin. I'm not sure if you can buy them and install them yourself or if you have to have it installed by one of their authorized dealers. Classic Softrim and The Leather Seat Company also make aftermarket leather kits that you may be able to purchase just the door panels from. My installer is getting $200 for the four panels, installed.
simias - Thanks, that's why I'm still considering whether to go DVD or VHS.

Another one is that, as far as I know, there is no recordable DVD yet. A lot of times, the kids like to watch stuff we record off TV.
Not that this will change your mind, but YES there is a recordable DVD out on the Market..
I think that Best Buy even has it?

i hear you! my wife wanted a VCP too because we have almost every Disney movie on VHS, but we decided that the DVD would be best because of all of the pros listed below. plus we don't buy VHS anymore. but if the kids primarily watch recorded stuff then get a small VCP from a reputable company because i've seen some of those HUGE VCPs in cars and it's an eyesore.

See that, I'm always way behind on the latest technology. Can anyone recommend a good 8-track player, 'cause I got a bunch of those tapes, too?
Seriously, once those player/recorders drop down to more palatable cost levels for the typical consumer, I suspect VHS will disappear. The question is how long that will take.

ROTFL
I might still have my plastic folding record player from when I was a little kid.
My SR5 has leather door trim, not cloth. I wonder if this is a difference that Gulf States does that national doesn't. My leather is listed on the sticker as a Gulf States add on, not a "factory" but is says (and is) leather seats AND door trim.
