Mine still works BUT if the handle is covered.....it just might be told to the service advisor that it is intermittent and to check the TSB.
Does anybody know if the Toyota Extra Care covers it, free is always better? I'll have to try and call tommorow just to check. Does Toyota have the upgraded metal version now or is that just online on ebay?

OK so I finally got a chance to install the
ebay metal handle. Not the easiest job but not hard. I got the new on installed, lubed the cable and latch etc. checked everything and it was working fine. Closed hatch for the test pulls.....
Pulled it once and it opened fine, second time it barely worked, third time no longer working. Turns out in mine the center pin where the spring is wrapped around was not mounted real well and the whole thing popped out.
GREAT NOW what. Wife is headed to visit a friend on Monday. I call Toyota and they have a factory one in stock for $73. I start driving there being ticked off and thinking what options as well as the email to the
ebay seller. I then realize I have an option. I turned around and went home
Both of the handles have a long pin with an e-clip on it that holds it in place that it pivots on. I removed the whole thing again, pulled the e-clip and pin on the busted Yota one, then did the same in the
ebay one and swapped. I know have a metal pull handle on the factory Yota mount and it works perfectly again. Just something to keep in mind for those that are looking for options or have the same problem. I'll try to get pics later of the parts.
