1Gen-SequoiaGeneral discussion forum for the first generation 2001 to 2007 Toyota Sequoia.
This is a discussion thread titled "2004 Sequoia Steering Wheel Audio Controls", within the 1Gen-Sequoia forum, part of the SUV Forums category.
I too wanted wood/leather steering wheel 4 my 06 tundra, check with all salvage yards in my area and other states no luck. There rare find because they had to originally been put on at port/and or ordered that way something like that, i was told by dealer. I look on line there about 300.00
or so plus shipping also they needed me send them sample off my gray int.. color plus one of my woodgrain cover off window switch so they could match. So i jus went to dealer part dep.. they gave me little run around at first, because these wheels are REPLACEMENT PARTS ONLY! meaning you will need a Vin# from a Vehicle that originally came with one, with out that vin# i don't think you will get one at the dealer. Find some one with the steering wheel want and ask them to use there vin#. or go to used car side tell saleman (manager) what your trying to buy see if can help, I was able to point out to him several trucks that had these wood wheel from trucks on there lot, so i knew someone had replaced few, no way that many 05/06 tundra had wood wheels also all where mechanics that work there.
$388.00 with no core exchange, I jus need to put it on now.
Also lexus 470 model will bolt right up to my tundra maybe they'll fit sequoia
too. There is another lexus model that will fit my tundra and maybe bolt to sequoia, can't find the paper i wrote the years and models on, if i do i'll pm them to you. Lexus and tundra parts are had too find not sure about sequoia.

The steering wheels are the same with or without controls. The difference is the airbag so if you want to add controls, you need to change the airbag. To be safe, just disconnect the battery and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. All you need is a flat screwdriver, hex key, wrench and socket, and little pounding on the wheel to get it off.
I am attempting this project on my wife's '06 Sequoia. She had the controls on her '03 4Runner, but not on her Sequoia. I have tried to search as much as possible.
I just bought the audio controls (that came with the wheel) for $19.99 on ebay. Shipping was $17. I am now searching for the tan airbag to fit the wheel, once I install audio controls.
Our Sequoia has the JBL stereo, but I don't know if I have the existing harness in the column. My fingers are crossed that once I get the airbag removed, the wires will be there.
I'll post photos once I get my new airbag and complete the project.
