Somehow my wife got her purse strap wrapped up around the wiper arm at the sterring column. Yep, she broke the thing right off at the point for the wiper delay. No, I don't know how in the h*ll she pulled that one.
So here is the question. If this happended to you what would you do. i.e order new one and install, go to junk yard etc... Divorce wife
Have the professionals fix it. Keep the bill hiden. (Chances are she will remember everything that you have done wrong and remind you of it.) So write this one down and do not make a big deal of it until she brings up something that you did wrong in the past. At this time, show her the bill and smile

My wife backed into our garage door as she was leaving for the gym one day. I mean, how do you back into a closed garage door? I asked if she walked backwards to the truck (4Runner at the time) when she got in. Her response was, "The door was open when I pulled in." "Well I should freaking hope it was open when you pulled in the garage," was my response. In the end I had to laugh though. The garage door used to squeak horribly before the accident, but never did after she hit it. This was great and all except that the entire door was bent up and looked like crap. She'll tell you that she backed in the garage door to stop the squeaking. In the end I used it as an excuse to get a nice steel insulated garage door with a better "R" value. Yes, I'm still married and love my wife.

You're a good man Mr. Zebra!
I have to admit that I have similar stories. My wife crashed into a closed garage door from the OUTSIDE and was sitting in the car laughing when I came running out. The car was still running (she had backed up) and there was NO WAY IN HE!! that I was gonna cross either in front or behind the car until she shut her down...
Mine backed out of the garage with my saab and didn't bother to look behind her. She T-boned her Explorer right in the door. My rear bumper is dented and the rear exhaust was torn right off the hanger and bent down and into the rear tire.
So what happened.... We fixed the explorer and then she replaced it with a 01 Sequoia LTD. I fixed my own muffer and still have a dented bumper. I said nothing bad and didn't get upset (she was plenty upset for the both of us). I'd say that I have a pretty good ACE up my sleeve to use.

Tie a string to the wipers and thread them through the windows so your wife can manually operate them while driving.
I have actually done this in my old VW Beetle. Another trick was open the rag top and have your friend stand out it and use the windshield washer you "Borrowed " from the gas station to clear your view.

My lovely wife backed out of the driveway while turning too sharp and she hit the mailbox. The mailbox bracket had to be welded back on and I had to replace the left rear tail light lens on her new 4Runner.
As I had backed into a vehicle parked in a no-parking fire lane a month earlier in the same vehicle, I knew to keep my mouth shut and just smile. (Therefore, we both make mistakes. Be supportive and try to be very understanding.)

id go to the dealer and buy a replacement and DIY. it will take a few hours but it will be the cheapest route. dont waste your time and gas at a junkyard.
ps. dont be "hard on" the wife even if she is "hard on" the car.

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought of my wife.
Her previous car was a Mazda. We drove it 11 years. It was a great car, but much smaller than the Sequoia we replaced it with.
But my wife... she drives the Sequoia just like she was driving that Mazda, especially when she accelerates and brakes. Every time I ride with her, I try to gently remind her that the Sequoia is at least 2x heavier than her old Mazda, but she just gets upset when I say anything.

I think we are married to the same woman. Tire and brake pad companies love that style of driving.

Apparently she's got a harem , because I was thinking the exact same thing - sounds like my wife as well. Gotta stop travelling for work as often as I do!
I'm guessing I'm going for brakes around 20k.
