Default Spark Plug Location?

Where exactly are the plugs located on my Sequoia. Are they below the valve covers, or is it the wires I see on top close to the intake manifold. I want to replace them after 48000 miles. Please excuse my inexperience. Thanks for a reply,,,,,,,,,,John

They are in the valve covers. On each side of the engine, on the valve covers, there are four black cap looking things with a bolt holding each one down on the side. disconnect the wires from those things, which are the coils, and then remove the small (i believe 10 mm) bolt that holds it down, and then pull up on it. The plugs are under the coils.

hope this helps

Thank you so much for this post! I was looking at those scratching my head. I was worried about removing them in case they WERE NOT the spark plugs.

I have 62K on mine and bought it used, so I don't know when if ever the plugs have been changed.

I pulled my plugs last night and they were the standard Denso Copper. Fairly clean, but well used. I went the distance and bought NGK Iridium IX's. $60 for all 8, but I figured it might be the last time I need to buy plugs ever again and the dealer would have easily charged me this or more for crappier plugs (installed).

Since I just installed them, the only difference I found was that it did in fact start up quicker. Now to see if the MPG change!

No matter what I feel great having these plugs in my Sequoia!

I bought the NGK iridium IX spark plugs for my 05 Sequoia. Do I install them without changing the original gap? If not, what is the correct gap? Thanks in advance.
