I fixed mine with a right door window motor off ebay. I took the gear out of the old rear window and replaced it with the salvaged one I got off ebay and works great! Really wasn't difficult at all. Had I been thinking I would have taken pictures of the step by step process, but it really wasn't difficult at all.
Had the same problem twice on my 2005 Sequoia. Rear window, wiper and defogger all dead. First time it was repaired under warrenty (29,000 miles) about a year ago. This time I have 45,000 miles (althought only 29 months old) and the service center quoted $650 to repair, at my cost. Both times they say the window motor shorted out and ECU for the window shorted out as well. That part (the ECU) alone they quoted as $219. I did not get it fixed. I read through the Techncial Service Bulletin EL007-06 and it sounds like a lengthy process, especially drilling out the rivits. However, from reading above, it looks like the process will fix the root cause. I'd like to know if anyone has approached Toyota with this common design flaw issue and had a positive response from them, i.e., they would help defer the cost of fixing their design error.
I own a 2005 Toyota Sequoia and have the same problem. The rear window will not go down. I took it into the dealer and they said that the rear window motor and the ECU would have to be replaced. The total cost would be $845.00. The breakout of the price is as follows: $323.77 for the motor (part # 85710-00070), $258.06 for the ECU (part # 89222-00020) and $2.56 for two rivets (part number 90269-05035). There would also be 2.0 hours of labor.
Has anyone else been quoted a price this high? Also, does anyone know where I can go to order the parts myself?

I posted this awhile back, but I have an 02 Sequoia and my rear motor died about 3 years ago. I purchased a motor off ebay from a 4Runner because those motors are manufactured in Japan and there have been less reports of failures. The whole thing cost me about $25.00.
I just went to the dealer today. I mentioned that my rear window wouldn't go down. Toyota apparently has a bulletin out on this problem and the rear motor and ECU were replaced free of charge even though my '05 LTD was out of warranty. Not bad!!!
So what exactly goes wrong with the motor? We just bought an 03 sequoia and didn't discover until we got home that the rear window doesn't move. It sounds like a common problem.
Mine is the same thing dead. I did replace the handle in the back a few months ago and it worked for a little while after that. It could be a loose wire. Everything I have been finding on this problem sounds like 2 things bad motor or a loose wire. Dealer will charge you an arm and a leg and maybe 1st born.

Re: Rear Window, Defrost, Wiper not working
Had the same problem; here's what fixed mine. It appears that the window motor some how got into a bind. I removed the rear panel. Remove screws from rear hatch access panel. There is a plate with four screws that hold the window motor. I loosened these screws and lightly wiggled the panel while my son was inside pressing the switch in the down position. The widow and wiper now works! Hope this helps.Wonder what the dealer would have charged for such a fix?
30 mintues for me to fix according to the TSB on my 2004, just removed the spring.
It seems that you can probably remove the spring w/o removing the regulator or disconnecting any of the electrical (although, I do suggest removing the negative on the battery...just in case).
If I would have only done that, I think the process would have been 5 minutes.
Ditto to jxhopper. My '03's rear window wouldn't go down with 65K on it. Rear wiper worked, rear defrost worked just no up/down. I could hear the motor trying to operate when I would depress the up/down button so I was fairly confident my motor and ECU were good. 20 minute job for those still on the fence. Leave the whole regulator assembly in the back hatch and just remove the parts listed in the TSB.
Thank you. I removed the spring and the stop (attached by two bolts) and my rear window works again. I only needed to remove the plastic covers and the one plate that holds the ECU to get to it. 10 minutes of work and 2 hrs of nerve to do it.
