Default How to iPod your 2006 Sequoia with Nav,RSE,etc.

Howdy all-

I am a new Sequoia owner (Dec 29th) so this is my hello to everyone. I iPodded my car the day I got it (I am an addict) so I wanted to share.

I posted a tutorial here for anyone interested.

Hopes this helps! Next project will be a backup cam.

Chuck-

I was curious, can you select "cd changer" & listen to the ipod from the rear seat entertainment system.
Other threads indicate "no" since you have the ipod2car connected directly to the head unit, instead of to the 12 pin connector on the RSE controller under the center console. Apparently with connecting the ipod2car to the RSE system, both the RSE & Head unit now recognize the "CD changer".
Appreciate it if you can confirm the above.
Thanks, Greg

I tried both when I was installing mine -- you are correct. It is available for both when connected to the RSE controller and not available via RSE when connected to the head unit. If I remember correctly, the same is true for the XM tuner (that's how I ended up connecting it).

I was curious, will the ipod2car charge the ipod with the car off. If yes, is there any concern of this draining the car battery?
Thx, greg

Tom:
Not sure how to gain access to the rse computer under the center console. Is it difficult to remove the center console or is in in two parts; front half & rear half?
Thx, Greg

I've attached the pages from the repair manual that describe how to get where you need. The thing you need to get at is the "Multi-display Controller". This is from the 2005 manual, I assume '06 is the same.

I actually purchased the aux2car because I want to use more than an iPod so I'm not familiar with how the ipod2car charges. For my iPod, I also purchased http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=149006. I installed http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2103452 just under the existing switches on the "Console Box Bezel" (shown on the pages attached to previous post). If anyone is interested in more details, let me know.

I just hooked up my iPod using VFXToGo's tutorial and it worked like a charm. Next is to remove the center console and run the wire to the center console. Currently I ran it to the glove box...

One note, if you turn on DIP switch 6, the volume is much louder. I read this somewhere else and I forget now where...

Thanks VFXToGo!

After using the iPod to car for a while, I noticed that there were some loud noises and bugs. I called the company and they said that it was not designed for my car. I have the NAV and rear entertainment. I ended up trying a unit from DICE. Works well! You can set it to control the iPod through the iPod (Steering wheel controls still work) or through the NAV screen. They say that mid summer they are coming out with a new one that does both. I have been very pleased with DICE's customer service.

I installed the audio2car kit last night. it works well but has one interesting bug. Every time i turn the Sequoia off and back on the audio source is set to CD Changer. even if I was listening to fm when I shut the car off.

Based on the last post this may be an issue with my having both the Nav and DVD options.

thoughts?

Once again bringing up an old thread. The tutorial VFX made shows his dash/instrument panel (not sure what its called). I have always wanted to get rid of the dull green colors that are there. speedo, gas, tac all those things. Anyone know how to get bright white like VFX has? thanks!

Like this? Change dash light color

A few people in the Gen1 Tundra forum have done this and posted some pics, including myself.
