Red face Toyota Navigation System install problem

Hi all,

I just bought a "like-new" Toyota Navigation system off ebay. Upon my first try, everything seemed to be working just fine, except that the volume control did not work at all. The audio output went to the max and I was not able to lower it down. What is wrong here? Did I buy a wrong system or it is simply defective?

The numbers I see on the unit are Toyota # 86120-0C160 and DW # 468100-0170

If you can help, I would truly appreciate it.

Thank a million in advance.

------------------------------------------------------

I would like to add that the model of the Nav unit is E7006. Amazingly, after reading through 8 million posts last night, I learned that this unit actually DOES work with the Sequoia. See this link below:

What is wrong here, guys? Please help me out!

The problem is that you purchased a navigation system that works with a digital amplifier and your suv has an analog amplifier. the head unit volume is controled by the amplifier in the vehicles that have digital amplifiers. I'm sorry to say that there is no easy fix for your problem.

Thank you so much for your response.

If I am replacing the current amp with the digital amp, would it fix the problem? I am worried about the speaker system as well.

I'm sorry for the slow response.
after checking the diagrams for both systems i advice you not to try to replace the amplifiers and instead find yourself an analog unit. it would be cheapper and no headaches. please check the diagrams and you will see that in order for you to replace the amplifiers you will have to rewire the whole audio system. (not an easy task) the analog system uses two amps and the digital uses only one.
