Lift the carpet and take a look there as well.
Few manufacturers actually clear coat those hidden surfaces so they appear duller not shiny.

Default dirty cheap basterds

yep, that was the first thing i noticed too about my 04 tundra. not only was there no silver sky through and through my car, but it is less than paper thin, and just barley meets the edges. MY BIGEST FEAR IS THE PAINT WILL START PREMATURELY WEARING AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE BODY PANNELS. toyota is is not the only cheap basterds using this exterior paint only technique, Honda is begining to do it too. i notice some spots on our MDX that doesnt have clear coat and paint colorant.

did toyota think the consumers would actualy notice this? cmon, like we can do anything about it except not buy a toyota. i still flipped the $$$ for my half painted truck.

btw: i have a couple of friends that paint cars for a living. they mentioned that as long as you can lay the paint evenly, the thiner the paint layer, the better/deeper it looks.
