Hi,

I am a driver of a Desert Sand color 2006 Sequoia limited. A saguaro cactus jumped out behind my car..

and punched in the drivers side rear bumper!

Can anyone help me to get a new one? I called around to some dealers and they are quoting me $1200.00

This is turning out to be a VERY COSTLY cactus mistake!

I really need a rear bumper......can you help?????

Park it in a parking lot (with no camara's) and call in a hit and run. When you returned to your truck it was like that. Your no falt insurance will cover it. I would not want to cut any corners on a brand new truck. I would put the $1200.00 bumper on if I where you. Just my opinion, Johnnny

The price your getting is mostly for labor to paint it too match. Matching it involves blending into the quarter panels. The bumper cover itself is only about $175. The rest is the prep and labor involved to make look really good. I myself didn't want my quarter panels repainted on my Sequoia just to fix the slice in the bumper cover (so just pushed out the damaged and did a touch up. One option is to get the bumper cover and ask at a couple body shops a price for just painting the cover. Patience is important but you might be able to wait until they paint another "desert sand" colored Toyota. Have them check the paint codes.

My friend needed a filler panel replaced after a parking lot incident. Part was $60 and the body shop painted a couple weeks later for $40 when they painted a red Tercel like his. Original estimate was the same way about $500 due to blending to adjacent areas.

If you look at MANY new vehicles you'll find shade variation in the plastic panels anyway due to flex additives and not being painted at the exact same time.
