Hello All,
I have an '02 SR5 and I am having a hard time trying to program the new remote that I purchased. I am following the instructions that came with it but I can not get it to go into the programming mode. Does anyone have any programming instructions or can tell me where I can find some. I am trying to get another reference.
Here are instructions that I found here...and they worked on my 02 limited. Kyle
1. unlock all of the doors in the car, open the driver's side door, and make sure the key is not in the ignition
2. put the key into the ignition and then pull it out without turning it or anything
3. within 40 seconds, lock and then unlock the doors five times using the power lock button on the driver's side door.
4. close the door and then open it again
5. within 40 seconds lock and then unlock the doors five times again using the power lock button.
6. Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position (not acc and not far enough to actually start the engine) and then back to the off position, then back to on and back to off.
7. Pull the key out of the ignition
8. If you are successful, after about 5 seconds, the doors should power lock and then unlock on their own. If that doesn't happen then try again from step 1.
9. within 40 seconds, hold down the lock and unlock button simultaneously on the remote for a second. Then release and hold down the lock button for 3 seconds. The power locks should cycle again once on their own. If they don't cycle exactly once, repeat this step from the beginning with the remote again.
10. Repeat step 9 for every remote you want to program. You have to do this with any remotes that were previously programmed because this process essentially resets what remotes the car will respond to.
11. Close the driver's side door to signify that you are done programming the remotes.
I did try this programming instruction for my remote control for my sequoia '01 (SR5) today. Unfortunately, it did not work regardless how many times I tried! About a year ago, I bought an RC in ebay and programmed it by myself. It worked perfectly after a couples of trials. I saved the programming instruction. But now those instructions don't seem to work anymore with an RC that I just bought last week to replace the one I lost this year. For some reason, I could not program this new RC at all??? Even worse, I lost the programming of my existing RC. I think I cleared all the registered codes by accident. Now I have to lock and unlock doors with my key instead of my RC. I am now desperate since don't know what to do next after spending almost a day fiddling with RCs. I even took my car to an car alarm store and asked for help. They said I should take it to a Toyota dealer to reprogram my RCs. I'd wonder if anyone knows what's going on with my car ? did anyone go through this trouble before? Please help!!!
I'd appreciate any help from anyone. Many thanks in advance!
Will twist again until my RCs are fixed!

hi, did you make sure that the new remote fcc# on the back matches your old remote fcc#
Yes. The FCC# is YQ12BAN on both of my RCs and none of them works with the programming instruction for 2001 toyota sequoia . So it makes me think of something else to do with my car but I can't figure it out at all. Please help again. Thanks!

Thanks, this worked for my supervisor's '02 Sequioa SR5. On side note, this is the same procedures I used for my '99 Avalon XLS; wondering if it's the same across all Toyota models...?
