Hi, I am new to the forum. I have a 2001 Sequoia Limited with the JBL sound system. I had it out of the truck yesterday and looked at the back of the head unit. There are 2 plugs in the back of the unit, the one that supplies the power, connects the speakers, etc., (the right side if you are looking at the back of the stereo) and another plug on the left side that is empty. Does anyone know what this plug is for? Does this allow for the use of the steering wheel controls? If so, does anyone know if you can get those controls separately and about how much? Also, there are 2 antenna wires, the regular FM wire, and a second, smaller antenna wire; what is this for?

Yes, but you have to buy a new steering wheel and airbag and the controls = $$$$$$ Also, there are 2 antenna wires, the regular FM wire, and a second, smaller antenna wire; what is this for? The big one goes to the antenna assy in the front fender and the smaller one goes to the right rear in glass antenna on the 10 speaker models. It is for AM stereo.

In that case, guess I will stick with waht I have and let 'er be.

Never would have guessed about the AM antenna, thought that antenna was part of the defroster for the rear!! Call me a dumbass!
