Default Performance Difference in Later Models

I have an 02 Sequoia. Although I'm happy with the performance, can anyone tell me what Toyota did with the newer models that created the 42hp boost? Thanks in advance.

Ok, good deal....I'm familiar with the vvt-i. I just wasn't sure if they had done things like intake changes and things that would be simple to replicate. Obviously, there's no replicating the vvt-i.

The top end of the motor and computers are all different. It would be very dfficult if not impossible to retro-fit an older motor with vvt-i it that was your thought. I'ts been discussed here before.

New tranny in '05 as well.

Oh, no intention of retro-fitting vvt-i. I'm happy with what I have...just wondered if there was something reasonable.
