Default steering slop

Do you guys have steering wheel slop at all? I can go down the road and move the wheel 2 iches from center and body roll is minimal. I suspect big cushy bushings are in there somewhere. It is a truck I undertand and an older desig at that but I am just ttrying to validate if this is a common condition with this model.

It is a 2005 Tacoma Double cab.

Default Re: steering slop

It's probably your upper steering shaft. Collapsible joint is loose. Get under the dash and hold onto the coupler while you trun the wheel and see if you feel the slop there. I've seen numerous trucks (including mine) with the same problem. Shafts are expensive also, but easy to change.
