Default 98 Tacoma speedometer gear

Hello All,

Recently sold my 98 Tacoma to my Father and he put smaller tires on it to lower the body slightly. Now the speedometer is off approx. 6% and I am told I can replace the speedometer gear with one with 19 teeth vs. the 17 on the OEM gear to correct the speed reading and correct the milage being logged. Does anyone know where I can get a speedometer gear with 19 teeth? Also am I on the right track for solving our problem? The current part number is 33482-59015 and it has a 17 tooth gear. Thanks in advance for any inputs.

Is it a gear up that's part of the odometer/speedometer unit in the instrument cluster you're talking about? You could find a used cluster off ebay that might have the part you need.

Honestly, to me 6% isn't enough to worry about. I went for larger tires on my truck which technically increased the indicated speed/distance by 8% but in practice I don't worry about it.
