Question Engine Idling on 2004 Tacoma?

Sorry if this question seems kinda basic or easy (i dont know a whole lot about auto mechanics) but i am wanting to know how long it is okay to have the engine idling (running but not driving) on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner? I spend alot of my time in the truck, and it is somewhat of a mobile office for me. Living in Phoenix, Arizona it gets rather warm here, so to be comfortable when doing business while parked in the truck i leave the engine running with the A/C on.

Should i be concerned as to how long i leave the truck running with the A/C on while it is in park and not being driven? Sometimes i sit for up to an hour with the engine running yet not driving.

Thankyou!

The Phoenix will become famous soon enough.

As long as you have your coolant system flushed every 60-75K, I don't think you'll have a problem at all. Your fan is capable of keeping the radiator cool, even in extreme temperatures outside. I once left mine running for about 6-7 hours while I slept in heat. (Stuck in an ice storm so I slept at the local truck stop) Only burned about 1/4 of a tank. That's not a bad trade to keep my body warm

I agree...
Driving the truck and putting load on that engine is what puts more wear and tear on it than anything.
You should be fine.

Id be more concerned about fuel dilution. Excessive idling is never a good thing over the long haul. I would change your oil more often then anything. How many miles do you generally drive a year?
