Weird screeching/whistling?

Hey everyone,

Been awhile since i've been here, (work, life, etc). Anyway, recently (yesterday) started to notice something weird. When i'm in 4th or 5th gear and i'm slightly pressing on the accelerator i'm hearing a screeching/whistling. If i'm just keeping my foot on the gas to maintain speed - nothing, if i'm pressing hard to accelerate - nothing. It almost sounds like the sound of a belt screeching but not that loud.

Truck details - 04 v6 4x xtra cab 5 spd 85K.

Any ideas?

Check the belts for wear and slack. My older toyota had a belt screetching problem until you give it a good press on the acelerator. I tighted the belt up and it went away. Thats the easiest thing to check to rule it out or fix the problem.

Good advice Justin, one thing comes to mind here, sounds like it could be a vacuum leak or a loose hose in the intake area.
