How many miles you got? I assume you've got an automatic?
My dad was a Toyota mechanic (retired) and we had an '05 Camry that had the same problem when the transmission wore out at 183K miles. He said the first thing to go was the overdrive. At the time, he said the transmission would need to be replaced, but since he didn't think the cost of replacing it was worth it, we just didn't use the overdrive any more. We sold the car years later with 238K miles. My guess is you've got an automatic with a lot of miles on your truck and the overdrive is just worn out.
But we'll see what more experienced people have to say. Could easily be caused by something else since I'm no expert...just relaying info from a previous experience.
