Good question... Do you have VIN numbers from both?

Not really. They were both on ebay and stated 2000 model. I have posted this on other forums and found out the 2000 years is just a whore for parts. Whatever they had at the time. Toyota was getting rid of the sparkplug wires and going straight coil on plug during that time. Also the egr system was being updated. I did find out the coil on plug got an extra 1 mpg rating for the EPA. So I am happy mine has the coil on plug rather than the wires.

Can't always go by what the listing says on ebay my friend. I'd need VIN's to determine if they are indeed the same engine. The 2RZ/3RZ look identical in photos too.

It would appear then that the plug wire/coil change was the most noticeable difference. FWIW both of those engine bays seem like the vehicle is located in inclimate weather, or the person didn't clean it!
