1Gen-TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 1995 to 2004 Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "Fuel mileage gone to crap!", within the 1Gen-Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Every since I installed the 285's my fuel mileage has decreased dramatically! I't didn't get good mileage to begin with but now it really sucks! (15mpg. on a good day).
This is not intended to be another fuel mileage thread, just a venting session.
There, I feel better~

Do you commute alot in the truck? Maybe gears to help?
Yea, I do. I also tow a trailer, boat, lawn equipment, etc...
I don't want to lose what little power it has now by regearing. I also like to do a little wheelin from time to time.

You would actually gain more torque by going up in the gears. You will just lose top end speed.

To be honest, I am not as 4wd savvy as I should be. Let me get back to you on this... In the meantime, take a look here. TTORA or Yotatech would be excellent in this department.
