1Gen-TacomaGeneral discussion forum for the 1995 to 2004 Toyota Tacoma.
This is a discussion thread titled "'96 5VZ-FE Ignition wires", within the 1Gen-Tacoma forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
I've been looking around online for some good wire sets for my V6. Possibly even a wire set that has a thickness slightly larger than the OEM ones, but no one seems to make any. Anyone know of some place that might actually carry them?
Also, I have 163,700 miles on this truck and do drive it a lot and am doing my best to maintain it to the fullest. Just had a new steering rack and brakes and tires and rear axles and seals. Oil changes with Mobil 1 oil and Mobil 1 filters. Any other suggestions for things to look out for with this amount of miles?

Thanks in advance!
Has the timing belt been changed out? If not you are on borrowed time. As for the wires...If the original ones lasted 12 years, I would go back with another oem set myself.
seems the 3.4L is not an interference engine so breakage would not be engine change, still needs the whole kit changed out when done, idlers x2, seals x2, Timing Belt, water pump,T stat, coolant, tensioner and the 50.00$ OEM wires will do ya just fine for another 150K, not sure if anyone does aftermarket Toyota wires cause they have the boots built in? clean up the Throttle Body if possible with spray and tear it apart and wipe out all the gummy varnish that can't be gotten with the spray!
I have had the timing belt and water pump changed for the 2nd time about 8 months ago. How about fuel injectors? Any people replace those after 100K or 150K? Thanks for all the help guys!
