Default Throttle Body cleaning?

Ok guys, how hard it is without messing up the sensors?

I've got a hassitation at times in 5th gear at a low RPM ride. It fells like there is no snott and it wants to stall out. Without any check engine lights or my machanic having the problem when he drives it. He thinks I'm nutz. I am but that is beside the point.

I've got a buddy here at work that does all his own car work. He told me about cleaning the throttle body. Seems simple enough, but I've not looked at the engine yet.

I've got a 2000 Tacoma 4 cyclinder 5 speed and looking to clean the throttle body myself.

Please help with any info.
Thank you.

After a little research, this looks pretty easy to do.
If I can get to it and get the hoses off without messy them up.

Can I spray the cleaner down passed the door and little it hopefully get down to the injectors?

I read that I should pull the + on the battery.
I was told to run the truck while spraying inside to get a deep clean.

????????? What should I do???????????

I wouldnt spray any cleaner down the TB. Get some good carb cleaner, open the TB and wipe her down or you can remove it and clean it front to back.

instuctions on the can say to spray it down the TB and work the throttle.
And that is what I was told to do from the mechanic, so follow the instructions.

Now the only thing is that the hose infront the TB looks like a pain to get off. There is a chamber that is bolted down inbetween the TB and air filter. Going to have to get that loose before I can pull and move the hoses out of the way so I can get a clear way in front of the TB to clean it.

Don't know if I want to remove all that stuff. I guess it will take about an hour or so to do a nice safe clean job.

Also, thinking about having a dealer do an injector clean for me if my problem isn't fixed.
Put a new battery in today and filled her up with HIGH TEST, hope she runs better soon. Almost time to start pulling the boat again.

The Phoenix will become famous soon enough.

It's ok to spray the carb cleaner on the butterfly in the TB. Just don't do this while the engine is running. Wipe down the TB as much as possible.

IMO I would take your truck to a good shop and have them perform a fuel injector cleaning which includes cleaning the TB. The shop will disconnect your fuel line and run fuel injector cleaner through your injection system.

If you really want to clean it, remove it from the vehicle.
