What Grade of Gas do you use in your Tacoma ?

I have a 2003 Tacoma Dbl Cab V-6 3.4L

I always read on here about others getting far better gas mileage than I do, what grade of fuel is best to use in this engine in your experience ?

Welcome to Tundra Solutions. Being the owner of 4 Tacoma's since 2001, I can tell you regular 87 octane fuel is all you need. You will not see an increase in MPG by changing your fuel grade. It's a myth, and all that you will notice is paying more money at the pump.

I've used MMO before, but only when I mixed with 94 octane and Toluene. It was the perfect race gas when mixed 4:1.

I don't think you'd really need it for everyday driving though.

I mainly use it for its lubercating properties. Yea i agree its works great. I had been using Lucas upper cylinder lubercant for the last two years.

The Lucas oil fuel additive and cylinder cleaner is a great product

Unless you're supercharged, use regular. I've used regular on mine (it is 85 here, due to elevation), and I've always gotten ~21MPG on the highway and 17 around town.

i have a 00' 2.7L and have to use middle grade, 89-90 i guess, because of a pinging issue. im parinoid about burning a hole in a piston or valve.

Unless you're towing extensive weight, the pinging you get from a N/A engine would never be enough to blow it up.

Chevron 87 here. No sense in using a higher octane fuel for a stock truck.

For 10 years, I burned nothing but 87 octane in my Taco.

Ran like a top until they bought it back for the rusty frame.

87, no problems even when towing my 2400 lb tent trailer up grades
